The mentor program is a series of events that begin in the fall and go
through the entire year focusing on building relationships between first
year law students and upper level students. Beginning in
orientation and ending at the end of the year, there are focused events
on substantive issues, like outlining and studying for finals, to fun
events, like the Portland Pirates and pizza parties---all to make the
transition into law school more palatable for new students and build
community amongst the different classes.
Upper level students are asked to reach out to their "mentees"
throughout the year, with much of the effort focused on the fall at most
lending ear to the concerns and issues facing the new 1L.
