THE STUDENT BAR ASSOCIATION SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION AWARD

Beginning in 1985, the Student Bar Association shall present this award to the graduating student who, through his/her voluntary efforts, dedication, character and very presence has enhanced the atmosphere of the school.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Awards serve two purposes: they recognize individual achievement and at the same time, express the values of the bestowing body. In 1985, the SBA voted to create the Significant Contribution Award to honor the graduating student whose actions and attitudes deserved, and won, the respect and admiration of his/her fellow students. In doing so, the SBA intended to institutionalize an annual mechanism whereby the students, through their representatives on the Board of Governors, could acknowledge that graduating student who had set an example for, and was an inspiration to, the rest of the student body.

CRITERIA TO BE CONSIDERED IN DETERMINING THE ANNUAL RECIPIENT OF THE SBA SIGNIFICNT CONTRIBUTION AWARD

The chosen student:

1. Gives willingly of his/her time to the law school community.
2. Is involved with various law school projects, especially those of a non-academic nature.
3. Takes his/her legal studies seriously.
4. Enhances the atmosphere within the law school by virtue of his/her spirit, attitudes and actions.
5. Brings a certain diversity of background and character to the law school.
